Properties It is an insecticide that beling to a family of chemicals known as amidinohydrazones. It must be ingested to be effective. It shows selective toxicity to insects with chewing or sponging mouthparts.

Technical-grade products is yellow-tan in color and has an odor similar to vegetable oil. It was first registered for use in the United States by the Envionmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1980.

Toxicity Acute oral LD50 to rats 817-1131mg/kg in males/ 1300-1502 in females.

Uses It is used to control ants, cockroaches, termites, crickets and silverfish.
Products with hydramethylon as an active ingredient may be approved for use out doors on pastures, rangeland. prnamental plants, turf, anthills and non-crop areas such as hospitals.

Products containing hydramethylnon are formulated as granules or impregnated such as baits or gels. Hydramethylnon is a registered chemical alternative for
chlorpyrifos for use as a termiticide. It is also used against ants, crickets and cockroches around the home and lawn.
